Our aim is to empower youth to develop the confidence to excel in science, technology, engineering, and math and to reduce the achievement gap between lower and higher income students.
Studies show that many students, especially those from lower-income backgrounds, have limited access to STEM resources, classes, and experiences. It has been found that many of the classes necessary for STEM success are stressful and anxiety-provoking which can lead to underperformance and compromise students’ ability to advance in STEM related courses and careers.
Scholars to Leaders, Inc. (S2L Inc Youth Development Program) uses a variety of resources and activities to expose students to careers in STEM. Each year we serve a restricted number of middle-high school students from various socio-economic backgrounds across rural Northwest Georgia. As students enter high school, they receive individualized guidance with planning for college and are assisted with applying and gaining acceptance into their best fit college and are also assisted with finding and applying for scholarships. 15% of students that have been assisted through the Scholars To Leaders (S2L inc) program have selected STEM related majors and are currently working in the STEM field.
